Hi Pentaxian friends,
I received a lot of email, and about 20,000 hits on the white K2000 post. Some like it, some don't. Some have gotten mad, some have gotten downright nasty. Women seem to like it.
I have a survey to the right upper corner on my blog. Please take just a minute to answer it. I will forward the results to Pentax. You can look and read the previous announcement of the white Pentax K2000 on this blog. Announcement
Thank you for reading,
Yvon Bourque

Good idea, Yvon! :-)
You might want to make it a bit clearer what you mean by "Woman /Wife?
I cannot change the survey once started. I should have simply typed: My Fender M ot F but it's too late.
Sorry
Well, in all honesty, i do like the camera, something different. Not that i will buy it (since i'm looking for a K20, so a K-m/K2000 is too basic for me) but even my wife, who's not into photography at all, told me that she like the camera and started to inquire about the availability and where she can see it, and wether it's better than the camera that i want (well.... no honey, a K20 is a "tad" better!!!)
But picture a bunch of SLR on a display board, all in a dull black shade and there is the white one. Women like white ones. Women like White MacBooks, white iPhones, white K-m...
Good marketing IMHO. Just that hardcore SLR users seems to be on the edge... But again, a K-m is not the camera for them, so why bother?
Does that means I can only attach a white/silver coloured lens onto the K2000? LOL
I doesn't affects me, anyway I'd not fancy a cam body that draws unnecessary attention from my potential subject, i.e. walking in a street, park.
I'm surprised that most of the people who dislike the white color take such offense. It really is baffling.
I think that the tenor of the criticism is particularly elitist and snobby, especially the arguments that amount to saying cameras should only appeal to professionals. It's even sexist when they write that a camera is deficient in some manner because it appeals to women. (Let me ask this: is it deficient when a camera only appeals to men?)
The only difference with the new K2000 is the color, but it's opened the door to all sorts of criticisms about Pentax's product matrix because it has reminded some readers that Pentax has an amateur camera model or two, whereas before there was no issue and Pentax was perfectly acceptable catering to amateurs.
I think the goal here is to sell cameras and to make the most of a production run until the next iteration is ready. White will sell a few extra cameras. Good for Pentax for being nimble enough to try it out.
I don't understand the connection between this cam and women? Why should this camera be more appealing to one or the other gender? It’s just ridiculous. I like this camera a lot but does that make me gay (lso a ridicules conclusion of course)? Anyway, I’m jealous of all of you living in the US since this cam is a limited edition for the US market. I hope it will reach overseas also. Then I’ll buy one for my girlfriend ;)
It kind of reminds me of the 80's....somehow. Its very cute though ;)
