For those snob Nikon owners, D5000 is on it's second recall!

Hi Pentaxian friends.

For those that like to own a Nikon because they are one of the two big camera makers in the world...sometimes being a follower isn't all that great. Case in point: The new Nikon D5000 is on it's second recall, all within one Month of its introduction.

You're not a Nikon user, you're a Canon user, well the 1Ds MKIII had to be recalled too. I understand that the 5D MKII had some problems as well. I do like the Canon 5D MKII, but for about a third of the price I got the Pentax K-7 that gives comparable results.

It's amazing to me how many people are followers. Those are the same people that always cheer for the winning winning team, after the results are in, they always voted for the winner, after the results were in, etc. It's the false sense of security. Don't be a follower, get a Pentax K-7 because it's a great camera at the very best price. You make the picture...not the camera.

I too wish I had a Nikon D3 or a Canon 1Ds Mk III, so that I could sell them and get the money to purchase another K-7 and lenses.

Just my "not-so-humble" opinion.

Cool,
Pentax have better cameras and no recalls that I recall:)

Exactly. I sometimes wonder if a lot of Cannon and Nikon owners like photography. Nothing wrong with liking cameras, but I do think there is a differenc.

I'm saving up for the K7. I was almost there and had a vet emergency. I'll just have to live with K20, K10, and K1000 until then. :-) I thought about trying to sell the K10, but I just can't part with it. I keep a Pentax made M42 adapter on it for all my all screw mount lenses. Maybe after I get the K7 I'll move the adapter to the k20. Maybe.....

I am purchasing the DA 15 at the end of the month when I get paid.

Yvon,

You do realise that we're all Pentax followers, right? ;-)

You gotta follow someone!

Miserere,

I see more and more comments about the fear of Pentax producing inferior equipment. There is an impression out there that Nikon and Canon make better products and never have any problems with their equipment. Well, I just want to point out that the two big camera makers were as vulnarable as anyone. Beside, there are many Nikon and Canonusers following the Pentax blogs...but you knew thatalready ;-)

Hi Yvon,

Frankly I am surprised by those comments about Pentax simply producing inferior equipment. I suspect in part your comments (which I agree with): "It's amazing to me how many people are followers... You make the picture...not the camera."

This is in line with my assertion that the camera is a tool - the image is the product of your mind and vision. Bottom line: I've always believed in Pentax image quality. Pentax is top notch in that regard - no question in my mind.

Perhaps this misconception is due to the smaller pool of people that are Pentax shooters - there are fewer examples of professional level results? Often people look at only quantity if the quality of image work is standard. Sheer numbers, etc. can sway people quite readily.

Marc
