First workshop for Pentax Cameras only.

Hi Photographer friends,

I had my first workshop last week in Las Vegas and Vicinity. I believe all had a good time, learned a bit more or a lot more about photography, got great images and made new friends. The Hotel was included as well as the e-book corresponding to their own  Pentax DSLR. A coffee Table book will be sent to each participant in the next few weeks, that will include every participant's best images, with caption as well as a commemorative section with the dates, locations and other participant's names. The book is formatted as though all photographers were Professionals, on assignment.

Picture taking took place at Red Rock Canyon, the Neon Signs Boneyard and around the Las Vegas Strip and Old  Downtown at night.

Since the expertise level was different with each person, the teaching was individualized to each person's own needs. Among the things I do photographically , there isn't much that's more rewarding, in my mind, than getting someone excited about photography. Consequently, there isn't much that gets me more pumped-up than photography.

The following images were all  taken during the workshop. These are just a few images, as several full SDHC cards were full.

Las Vegas at Night...still one of my favorite place to photograph.

Email: brqyvn@gmail.com

Hi Pentaxian friends.

We took some time off work last week and headed down Vegas. We stayed at Planet Hollywood, and had a good time.  I ventured out around midnight to take some pictures. I love taking photographs of Las Vegas at night. There's no place like it.

All the images were taken with my Pentax K-5 and using my AlettA Stabilizer for every shots.

Vegas has changed quite a bit this last year. There were more homeless people and beggars than I had ever seen. I could have taken pictures of those lost souls, but I decided that their livelihood was sad enough that I didn't have to make it worst by publishing their pictures all over the Internet. I gave money to some of them, and frankly, I don't care about what they were going to do with it. I could be me in their shoes or even you...

I'll stop now...I don't want to lecture anyone. It very sad when you think that we are supposed to have the highest standard of living and yet...people are sleeping in the streets.

Las Vegas is also a City of Lights; Photo essay with the Pentax K-7 *Breaking the Rules*

Just another picture of streaking lights. Every photographer does it at least once.

The City Center with its ultra modern amenitiess reminds me of the 1962 TV show "The Jetsons".

It's hard to imagine a "Las Vegas" in black & white.

It has been said that because of the current economic situation, Las Vegas is becoming a ghost town. I believe I captures some ghosts myself!

Sometimes, you need to break all the rules.

One hand on the camera and the other on the steering wheel, while driving 40 mph on the Vegas Strip gives you the above.

Hi Pentaxian friends.

Most people like night pictures. I can't think of a better place for that than Las Vegas. I took the pictures above a few weeks ago. Instead of using a tripod, like I usually do for this type of pictures, I just held the camera whithout worrying about blurriness. Sometimes, breaking all the rules is simply fun. All the pictures in this post are breaking the rules, but yet, I do like them.

Sure, the images could have been crystal clear, but the blurriness does give a feeling of movement. You ought to try it, if you haven't already done so.

I also took some pictures of Las Vegas at Night with the Pentax K20D last year, whithout breaking the rules. See that essay here.
