Forget the Flucard or the Wi-Fi of the K-S2, there is a much simpler way to transfer images to your iPhone or iPad.

Email: brqyvn@gmail.com

 Hi Photographer friends,

I have the Pentax Flucard for my K-3 and I also have the Pentax K-S2. Both allows me to transfer images to my iPhone or iPad and post them on Facebook or email images. However, both are a little clumsy and the software required is nt as good as I would have expected.

It's not really a deal breaker, but I found a much easier way to transfer my images to my iPhone and iPad.

It's only $29.00 and the shipping was free directly from Apple. I was delivered in two days, and that's during the Holiday season. It's called "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader".

It can export JPG and RAW files. It is quicker than Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. All you do is take the SD card from your camera and insert it in the reader end and connect the other end to your iPhone or iPad. Voila, in a few seconds, the images are shown on your device. Keep the images you like and delete the rest.

Once in your device, you can send or post the images just like you would with photos taken with your iPhone or iPad, but much much better quality images. No need to mess with the Wi-Fi capabilities of the cameras. I'm sure there will come a day when Wi-Fi or Bluetooth  will be available on all cameras and the software will also improve with time. However, for now, I found this adapter awesome, fast and inexpensive. There is no learning curve. You you the SD card in and it instantly transfer whatever is on it to the device.

This is what I received, in two days.

Insert the SD card one end and the other ens to the device.
Images are loaded on the iPhone.

Keep or delete images before completing the transfer.

Images stored in "Moments" in your device .

From there, do whatever you would do if the image was taken from your iPhone.

I attached the description from Apple below.

Overview

With the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader,
it’s easy to download photos and videos from
your digital camera to your iPad or iPhone so
you can view them on the gorgeous Retina
display and share them with family and friends.
After you insert the SD card into the reader, your iPad or iPhone automatically opens
the Photos app, which organizes your photos into Moments, Collections, and Years.
And when you use iCloud Photo Library, all your full-resolution photos and videos
are stored safely in iCloud and automatically added to the Photos app on all your
devices. With iCloud Photo Sharing, you can share your photos and videos with just
 the people you choose.
The Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader supports standard photo formats, including
JPEG and RAW, along with SD and HD video formats, including H.264 and MPEG-4.
It supports data transfer at up to USB 3 speeds on iPad Pro, and up to USB 2 speeds
on all other iPad and iPhone models.

Now, for you Pentax owners, I do have e-books for most of the Pentax DSLRs. You can check this site ebooks4cameras.com and even download any e-book for checking the contents.

Click on the image above to visit our e-book store. You can also download sample e-books
and get the free AF front and back focusing adjustment charts at this e-commerce.

Local Car show images taken with a Pentax K-5 and Apple iPhone. See the differences.

Email: brqyvn@gmail.com

 Hi Photographer friends,

Many locations in California have a car show every week during the summer. It's nothing fancy, just local car owners showing their pride possessions. They are held in the parking lots of restaurants all across Southern California.  I was around one of these tonight with my K-5 and 10-17mm lens mounted, and yesterday I was at another one with my Apple iPhone. The iPhone is great when that's the only camera you have with you, but you can see the difference in quality between the two herein...or can you?

I'm sure you can see a difference in quality, but for displaying on a computer monitor, the iPhone does a pretty good job.

Photography is changing. It's now the media of choice for many.

Email: brqyvn@gmail.com

 Hi Photographer friends,

In my opinion, photography for the professional photographers and advanced amateurs will continue to expand with new DSLRs and other types of digital cameras, but I believe the majority of people under 30 are going another direction completely.

The cell phones are definitely pushing the point & shoot cameras out of the way. Cell phones are having better sensors and better glass than just a few years ago. The generation pushing us out of the way do not care much about printed photographs.  I was reminded of that the other day when my youngest daughter told me she never uses her Pentax K-r. She uses her iPhone and post photos of her life on Facebook and Instagram.

She said "Dad, I really don't use my Pentax. With the iPhone, it's like I document my whole life. I save the pictures on my hard drive, and its also saved on Instagram, plus Apple iClouds".

Instagram allows some cool photo manipulations and it's what the pushing generations are using.

I have to agree that it's a great way to document one's life and events and share it with your family, friends or the whole world if you choose to. I have two daughters and, although I talk to them often on the phone and converse with them on the net, I know what's going on in their life daily.

We live in a great technology era, all the while the world is financially crumbling around us.

Here's some pictures I get from them. I know that these images mean nothing to you, but it's the idea that I can see my children and grandchildren growing day by day.

Photography is changing.

It's easier than ever to read your favorite photography magazines with the iPad 2, iPhone and other smart phones and tablets. It's cheaper too.

Email: brqyvn@gmail.com

Hi Photographer friends,

With tablets and smart phones taking a bigger  share of what people are using to surf the internet, it stands for reason that more site would cater to these devices. The world of applications (Apps) for Apple and Android are covering just about anything one would like to do on the internet, and that from your portable device. I happen to use an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2, but is works pretty much the same way with all portable devices.

Looking back just one year ago, I used to visit the local Barnes and Nobles store weekly to see what new photography magazines had come in. I don't like to subscribe to magazines as every time I did, we would move away and the interruption of home delivery of my magazines would be disrupted for months.

Now, that's all changing rapidly. Most magazines are available on-line. Prices per issue or one-year subscription are reasonable, and certainly cheaper than single printed copies at the magazine stands. You don't have to drive anywhere to get them, you can get them as soon as published, and it doesn't matter if you are in California or London, you get your magazine. It seems that the most popular site is called "Zinio"

Another clear advantage of getting your magazines on-line, is that the magazines, being digital, are also interactive. You can log on to links within the magazine and come back to the same page you left. Some magazines include videos that you can just click from within the pages. It's a whole new experience. You get text, pictures, and sometimes, videos and sounds.

Reading a magazine in bed is probably what many people like do. With a printed magazine, you have to leave some lights on, which doesn't always works well if you have a spouse or partner. Reading  a portable device in bed is not as disturbing to others, and you can even dim the screen brightness.

So like it or not, I can already see that what has been predicted for years, is happening. Book stores will pretty much go away and eventually very few reading material will be printed. A few generations will argue that printed books are better, but when today's children reach maturity, it will be mostly digital in some form or another. Science Fiction of yesteryear is today's reality. Who knows what it will be like in fifty years from now... holograms?

Thank you for reading,

Yvon Bourque

I use Zinio.

Most Photography magazines are publishing on-line.

These are some of the magazines I subscribed to.

The image herein is not representative of how clear it is on the iPad. I took the pictures during the day with my iPhone.

You can view one page at a time (portrait) or two pages at a time (landscape).

The Pentax K-5 e-book is now available for iPad, iPhone and iTouch.

Email: brqyvn@gmail.com

Hi Pentaxian friends.

For some time now, I have received emails to make the K-5  e-book 100% compatible with the Apple products and other tablets and mobile devices. i.e. iPad, iPhone and iTouch. The K-5 e-book is my last e-book and I still have the current files on my new computer. I will search for the other e-books, but after my hard drive crashed, I lost many of my precious files.

It's not that the current e-books do not load on the iPad and iPhone, but some of my readers have reported that some of the images did not appear. There are many ways to fix this compatibility problem, check here, but with the K-5, I reformatted the whole book so that all the images would be viewable.

The iPad and iPhone have the capability of bookmarking, referring to a table of contents, search within the e-book or on Wikipedia. It can also easily link to other sites and come back to the e-book. I would say that the iPad and iPhone are at the top of the list for mobile devices. However, it seems that "Droid" mobile devices can read PDF files better than the Apple Products.

Let me (us) know what device you use for reading the e-books.

Thank you for reading,

The iPhone is incredible. Using the iMovie, downloaded for $4.99, I was able to make a half-decent video presentation of my AlettA Photographic Stabilizer.

Email: brqyvn@gmail.com

Hi Pentaxian friends.

This past weekend, we were relaxing in Palm Springs, like we do about once a Month. Believe it or not, our favorite Hotel is actually called "Hotel California". "We can check out anytime we want but we can hardly leave.

We hiked in the Indian Canyon area and took some pictures. The main purpose of that hike was to use my AlettA Stabilizer and put it to the test. I know my opinion is certainly partial, but I just love this little gadget. I don't have to carry a tripod, it stays attached to my camera and I can set it up just about anywhere. We all know that the best way to take a blur free picture is to use a tripod or stabilize your camera somehow so it won't move.  The Stabilizer does just that. You can set it up on a rock, on the ground, on a fence, on a mailbox, or just about any hard to medium hard surface.

I like to use it as much as I can and I also use the remote shutter so the camera doesn't move at all during exposure. Yes...the on board shake reduction system is great, but nothing replaces a good solid setup.

Anyway, using my little iPhone 4, I was able to shoot some half decent footage of the Stabilizer set up. Take a look at this Youtube video.

I'm so tired that I will have to go to bed now, but this simple video has got me all excited, when I think of all the possibilities. My future post will likely include videos clips to help get my points across. What a wonderful era we live in.

Thanks for stopping by,

Yvon Bourque

AlettA photographic will launch its e-commerce store in the next few days. Accessories for Pentax, Nikon and Canon will be available.

Email: brqyvn@gmail.com

Hi Pentaxian friends.

If you follow this blog, you already know about my current endeavor "The AlettA Photographic". If this is your first visit,  AlettA Photographic is a new business that is offering accessories for  Pentax, Nikon, Canon and other DSLRs. Although the introduction of AlettA Photographic was mainly concentrated around our new Stabilizer, other products will be offered as well.

AllettA Photographic Stabilizer, available custom-made for Pentax K-5 and K-7, Canon EOS 5D and EOS 7D, Nikon D7000, D700 and D300S.  Generic Stabilizers are also available for all DSLRs. Just let us know your camera model and make.

A few weeks back, I did a survey on daily visits to blogsites like mine and forum sites as well. I was under the impression that traffic had slowed down, not only on my site, but on all internet sites in general. My counter registers how many visitors I have everyday, but since more and more people use RSS feed and other ways to follow someone's blog, the counter showed a decline in visitors. With iPhones and other Smart phones, in addition to the new trend in tablets such as the iPad, more and more people are surfing the Internet from their mobile devices. They don't actually log onto blogs, but receive RSS feeds that emails them the blog sites they are interested in, and that every time something new is posted.

I believe that sitting in front of a PC, using a big qwerty keyboard to surf the net is on its way out. Smart phones and Tablets are on their way in. Most are using 3G and 4G  (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and others) to stay connected to the Internet all day long and Wi-Fi connections are available almost everywhere. Just about everyone is on Facebook and Twitter. In fact, my blog is transmitted to Facebook and Twitter automatically every time I post something new.

...back to AlettA Photographic, I wanted to launch my e-commerce store so that it would reach the greatest amount of people possible, (after all I believe that my current and future products will be well received by photographers all over the world). I found the solution in a company called http://mybigcommerce.com/.

In a few days, my e-commerce store will open, with shopping carts, photographs of available items, videos, detailed descriptions, reviews and comments, and secure purchase capability with all major credit cards. What's more, it will simultaneously be broadcast in a mobile devices compatibility mode for iPhones, smart phones and tablets. Everyone will be able to visit my e-commerce store, window shop, purchase items, leave reviews and comments, all  from their smart phones and on the fly. The internet is going through some changes and I am lucky to live in such an era. Of course, you will also be able to log on using your PC or iMac as well.

Check the e-commerce store in the days to come. http://www.alettaphoto.com/

This is what the e-store will look like on a regular PC or iMac.

This is what it will look like on smart phones, in this case, my iPhone.

Every available items will be displayed in an easy to see form.

You will be able to shop and add items to your shopping cart.

Reviews from users will be available and you will be able to review the many availkable items you purchase.

Additional images and videos will be accessible directly on your smart phone to help in your decision making.

Window shop, purchase, pay with any major credit card, and receive your item a few days later, all done from your PC or smart phone. Aint technology grand!
Thank you for your visit and don't forget to check http://www.alettaphoto.com/ in the next few days.

I am in Florida this week for the wedding of my youngest daughter. With luck, me and my K-5 will make some good pictures in Florida.

Email: brqyvn@gmail.com

Hi Pentaxian friends.

I am in Florida this week for the wedding of my youngest daughter. With luck, me and my K-5 will make some good pictures in Florida. We got here today and it was a long flight from California.

I don't know who this guy is, but before the flight was over, he was listening to his iPod from his right eye and the back of his head!

We changed plane in Las Vegas and had an hour wait. My wife won $90.00 after a few spin and I won $40.00. We cashed it all in immediately. That is a pretty good return on our investment of less than $20.00.

On our way to Florida, somewhere over Nevada.

All pictures above were taken from my iPhone. The Pentax was in the storage bins.
